Support After a Traumatic Experience
When a traumatic experience keeps affecting you
After a frightening or distressing experience, you may find that certain memories, thoughts or reminders continue to feel difficult long after the event itself has passed.
You might notice yourself avoiding particular situations, feeling on edge, or finding that unwanted memories seem to appear when you least expect them.
Everyone responds differently, and you don’t necessarily have to talk through every detail of what happened in order to explore ways of moving forward.
My approach provides a calm, confidential space to talk about what you’re experiencing and what you would like to change, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
The Rewind Technique
I am trained in the Rewind Technique, an approach designed to work with distressing memories without requiring you to describe every detail of the original experience.
Some people prefer this because it allows the work to focus on how memories are affecting them now, rather than repeatedly going over what happened.
If Rewind is appropriate for you, I’ll explain how the process works beforehand so you can decide whether you feel comfortable using it.
We can also talk about other approaches depending on what you’re experiencing and what you’d like support with.
Taking the next step
If you’ve been affected by a traumatic experience and would like to talk about what you’re experiencing now, you’re welcome to book a free consultation.
We can discuss what you’d like support with, how I work, and whether hypnotherapy feels appropriate for you.
A quick note about PTSD
If you have been diagnosed with PTSD, are experiencing severe symptoms, or are currently receiving mental health care, please speak with your GP or treating healthcare professional first.
Hypnotherapy should not be used as a substitute for appropriate medical or mental health care.
